Photo Friday: “Iwo bunker blast”

In honor of the upcoming 67th anniversary of the landings on Iwo Jima (February, 19th), today’s Photo Friday is dedicated to all those who proved “Uncommon Valor was a Common Virtue” during the battle for “sulfur island.”  Semper Fi, Warriors!
The above photo shows, U.S. Marines crouching below a hillside while detonating a large explosive charge intended to destroy a network of caves connecting Japanese fortifications dug into the ground of Iwo Jima.
