Photo Friday: “Returning Fire”

A Marine returns fire at insurgents. This valley is the lifeblood of the Taliban. The region’s abundant poppy crop, used in the production of heroin, provides them with hundreds of millions of dollars to mount their operations. This photo was awarded Honorable Mention, International News Picture Story for 2010.
