When SPC Troy Yocum came home from Iraq, he had just one thing on his mind: hike 7000 miles across America while drumming to raise $5 million for Military families.

Across America traveling with Troy is his support crew made up of his wife Mareike, his long time friend and assistant Terry Carmickle, event coordinator Myron Koch, Harley the joking Chihuahua, and “Emmie the super dog”

Troy started walking across America on April 17th 2010 and is set to end his 7000 mile walk in Aug of 2011. Troy has already traveled on foot from Kentucky Indinapolis and Chicago then south west to St. Louis and west to the center of America in Kansas.

Troy’s path has connected with the American Discovery Trail (ADT) and will follow the trail all the way to Moab, Utah where he will disconnect and head south west through the Zion Forrest to Las Vegas. Then on to the west coast in Los Angeles. From here Troy will turn east and head to Texas to visit four cities and finally start a push towards Washington D.C, New York and Boston. Once all the way to the east coast Troy will once again turn westward and hike home to Louisville, KY the 7000 mile round trip. ending back where the first step was taken at the Louisville Slugger Museum.

Troy’s mission is to further spread the word that our American Heroes are fighting just as hard at home as they do overseas. We hope to provide a peace of mind and lay the foundation for military families in need to succeed. Troy will literally put one foot in front of the other, crossing the great states of America to reach people and help spread the importance of helping our military families. Our goal is to raise the needed $5 million for these families!
