After three grueling days, a tandem from the U.S. Army Special Operations Command beat out 49 other teams to win the 2012 Best Ranger Competition.
Master Sgt. Kevin Foutz and Sgt. 1st Class Thomas Payne captured the crown and at least a year of bragging rights at Fort Benning, Ga., on Sunday, according to Army officials.
Staff Sgts. Raymon Santiago and Chad Acton, of the Ranger Training Brigade, finished second, and National Guard Staff Sgt. Matt Madiar and Sgt. 1st Class Zach Phillips came in third, reported Fort Benning.
